About American Sun Control
American Sun Control has been serving the Mid-Missouri area and surrounding communities since 1985. The company began as American Safety and Security Film (ASSF), installing solar and security film in second homes at the Lake of the Ozarks. ASSF maintained the security film business through relationships with the FBI but as demand for window tinting increased, American Sun Control (ASC) was born.
American Sun Control was the first at the Lake of the Ozarks to install window tinting film but as time went by the company began to provide other products and services to the residents of the Lake area. Karen Zaborac, awarded the 1998 Small Business Person of the Year, maintained their existing glass tinting clients and began offering fabric awnings which lead into patio covers, retractable deck awnings, deck and dock shades and party tent rentals. The growth of their business caught the attention of SCORE, Senior Corps of Retired Executives, and they awarded American Sun Control the honorable title of National Small Business of the Year in 1998.
Today, American Sun Control manufactures do-it-yourself railing and supplies dealers with the DIY Railing System. The dealers sell to do it yourselfers all over Missouri. American Sun Control also continues to manufacture and install custom aluminum railing, spiral staircases, Phantom retractable screens and doors, screen enclosures, awnings, dock shades, deck shades, deck covers, patio covers, retractable awnings and glass window tinting along with renting party tents.
The growth of American Sun Control is directly attributed to all the employees. All employees are carefully screened and are workman’s compensation and liability insured. The experience of employees like Otis Brumm, Production Manager, with 20 plus years and the experience of Mike Bennett, Railing and Screen Consultant, with eleven years and Garry Richardson, Railing Foreman, with 5 years with the company really show why American Sun Control has continued to grow throughout the years. The safe workmanship and the welders combined fabrication experience of 80+ years really shines through the final product.
ASC sponsorship of a number of charities and charitable organizations including the Elks, Shriners, Kiwanis, The Dream Factory, Shoreline Cleanup, HK’s Hospital Benefit, the Golden Age Center, Crossover Festival, Alzheimer’s Association, Multiple Sclerosis Association and MDA express community involvement. The youth of the community benefit from ASC as well through sponsorship of Camdenton Lake Athletic Boosters, Lake Area Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Camp Wonderland, the YMCA, Rotary, Special Olympics, Kid’s Harbor and Boy Scouts.
Local business memberships include the Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, Camdenton Chamber, Lake West Chamber, Lake of the Ozarks Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, Columbia Home Builders Association and Marine Dealers Association. State and National memberships include U.S. Chamber of Commerce, National Federation of Independent Business and Associated Industries of Missouri. As with any business, trade organizations are an invaluable resource. American Sun Control is a member of International Window Film Association and International and National Ornamental and Miscellaneous Metals Association.
